Standards of Conduct

No one likes to be told what not to do. We want to be told what is acceptable! This list of acceptable behavior is our Standards of Conduct. A standard is a rule or principle that is used as a basis for judgment. When considering what is or is not appropriate behavior in our server, we look to the standards!

01

Minecraft World

We respect ourselves and others

In the Minecraft language, this means we do not grief others. We only remove what we place into chests, barrels, furnaces, or blast furnaces, unless we have explicit permission from the owner. We recognize that game-generated loot in dungeons (where there are mob spawners), unexplored villages, ruined portals, strongholds, bastions, nether fortresses, and end cities is available for player use on a first-come, first-serve basis. We admire what others have made, but do not add to or take away from their builds without permission. Included in this is that we do not light fires in areas that do not belong to us!

02

We use family-friendly (school/work appropriate) language

We work to encourage others and build people up! Swearing and belittling others is not acceptable in our community. This standard applies to interactions in Zoom rooms, Zoom chat, game chat, group posts, and any other formats of communication. This standard is strictly enforced, and the Minecraft chat logs are reviewed regularly to keep our community a place we all want to be. Many of you have chosen ReefCraft specifically for the family-friendly nature of our community, and we protect that with our language standard.

03

We work to build a strong community

Our goal is to build a community others want to be a part of! Bullying is never tolerated, either in action, chat, whispers, mail, or any other way.

04

We respect everyone's ability to play on this server

We recognize that things like spamming chat, entity cramming (including a large number of placed boats), and large redstone contraptions in the highly populated areas of the world can cause lag. Lag makes it difficult for anyone to play and enjoy themselves! If there is a question as to whether a planned build or farm may cause lag, we will talk to Mrs. Coral before starting it. In almost every case, a location can be found for the build that will make it fun for everyone to continue to play!

05

Minecraft Animation

We participate in PVP only in PVP-designated areas

We understand that people may not want to participate in person-versus-person (PVP) combat and do not like to die in Minecraft. We participate in PVP play in the PVP Arena world and the Bedwars world only. We recognize that causing the death of another player through intentional traps not used to protect our own base within our claimed areas, flint and steel, lava, end crystals, falling from extreme heights, intentional game design, or any other creative way to intentionally cause another player’s death is considered PVP play and we do not participate in this type of activity in the survival or creative worlds.

06

We honor fair play in action, add-ons, resource packs, and mods

We believe that every player on our server should have a fair advantage. This means that we only used approved mods, resource packs, and texture packs while playing on the server. This is a mainly vanilla-play server where we work together to develop our skills, and the approved resources do not detract from this goal. As a basic rule of thumb, if what you want is included in a hack client or is X-Ray, that's an unfair advantage. If you're not sure, just ask Mrs. Coral!

Livestreaming and/or Recording on the Server is LIMITED

While I fully support your ambitions to have a following on social media, player safety is of utmost concern.

Recording videos is allowed on the Jr High/High School servers with the following requirements:

  1. NO username can be shown at any time, whether through chat, player ID, or in the tab list, EVEN IF they have given legal consent to appear in your videos

  2. You MUST have legal consent (meaning by someone over the age of 18) for anyone appearing in your video

  3. You MUST communicate directly with Mrs. Coral, informing her of your intent to make content on the servers, and sharing the content made for verification that these restrictions are followed.

Failure to abide by these standards will result in immediate removal from the servers with no refunds of subscription costs.

***Livestreaming and Recording ARE allowed on the adult servers. Please note that if you choose to play on the adult servers, implicit permission is given to be seen "in the background" of livestreaming and/or recordings without your gamertag being censored.***

08

It is up to us individually and collectively to uphold the community standards

While we want to maintain good relationships with every player, we recognize that failure to inform Mrs. Coral about violations of the standards puts the community as a whole at risk. The majority of the time, standards violations come from a misunderstanding of the standards, and the sooner we are able to discuss those misunderstandings and clarify the standards, the easier it is to prevent irreparable damage to our community and the relationships we have with other players in our community. Additionally, we recognize that should standard-violating behavior continue without being reported and we knew about it, we are equally responsible for violating the community standards and are also subject to violation penalties.

09

We believe in second and third chances!!!

We believe in second and third chances!!! We are a forgiving community here to support each other in our learning process. We recognize that mistakes can be made, and also recognize that continuing to choose to violate community standards puts the community as a whole at risk. As such, we support a 3 strikes policy.

  • At the first instance of standards violations, the player will be informed via an email message to the email on file and will receive a 3-day temp ban with the violation stated.

  • At the second instance of violating the standards, the player will be informed via an email message to the email on file and will receive a 14-day temp ban with the violation stated. We strongly encourage players to review the Standards of Conduct during this ban period!

  • At the third instance of standards violations, the player will be removed from the whitelist for the remainder of the enrollment period and an email will be sent to the player's email on file. We encourage players to take the time away from the server to develop their skills through other Minecraft opportunities and work to rejoin us again in a subsequent enrollment period when they are willing to uphold the standards of the community. Players who receive a "3-strikes ban" will not be eligible to rejoin our servers, even if they purchase a new subscription, until the expiration of their original subscription or a 6-month waiting period, whichever is longer.

10

We recognize that things are not always as they appear (ban appeals)

We recognize that things are not always as they appear at first glance, and are happy to have a meeting with Mrs. Coral, the player, and (if applicable) their guardian to discuss any strike. In this meeting, Mrs. Coral will present the evidence she has, and we will take the time to explain our position and view of events that happened, including previous events that may have affected our behavior. We accept that all information and details will be considered before the decision is made regarding whether or not a strike is upheld. We support Mrs. Coral in doing what will be best for the server as a whole in strike-removal considerations and will accept her final decision in these matters.
